For the last month now I've been working like crazy on drawings (17 of them), to exhibit along side paintings at my art opening this Friday. I've not shown original illustrations before and am pretty thrilled about it. Working with mixed media has been a nice change - and a challenge. I decided to theme one after this weeks Illustration Friday topic: Identical. Hope you love it! ♥
Here's a little sneak peek (detail) of another. I will make sure to post more soon. Stop by aNeMonE this month and check out the show!

Secrets [IF]
I was telling a friend last night about Illustration Friday. I then decided it was time to draw something for it.
This weeks theme is: Secret
Secrets are messy...and so is this little doodle from my sketchbook - but I sort of like that about it. Happy drawing! ♥

No Boundaries (Illustration Friday)
Every week I decide that this is the week I will do the Illustration Friday drawing....and then every week I do not.
This week the topic was "Boundary". I can't lie, I kinda hated it...which made me think a lot about it. It took a while to figure out what to draw - and then voilĂ !
Now I pretty much love it. What do you think?

Stir
Here's my drawing for Illustration Friday's theme Stir. When I got this week's email all I could think about was making caramel...so much stirring, but so tasty.

Have fun drawing, and maybe treat yourself to some caramels!

Layer
This weeks Illustration Friday theme is Layer. When I opened by blog reader today I found this post from Julia Humpfer. What a great find!...and perfect for showing layers. I decided to give odosketch a go, and just not worry about the mistakes - it was pretty fun!
(Sorry I couldn't get it centered below...)
Happy Drawing! ♥

Witner (IF)
I imagine even bears get a little chilly in the winter.
It always surprises me how few people wear scarfs here... It's one of my favorite things about Winter.
Theme "Winter" Illustration Friday ♥! I hope the holidays are treating you all well! Have a lovely New Years.

Phenomenon (IF)
I thought I would share a photo of my sketchbook as well. (Heh - it really is always that messy) I love illustrating typography and have a pretty comfortable "Tiffany Standard", but I decided it is time for me to mix it up a little and push myself a bit. Yay for Illustration Friday.
Happy drawing everyone!

Prehistoric Love (IF)
So I am a bit late with my Illustration Friday drawing...last day and all. I'm done with my annual wintertime cold and couldn't pass up the theme "Prehistoric". Love it!
So here is a cute little lunch break dinosaur I whipped out. Hope you all are having a wonderful week!

Dessert
I am more of a dessert lover than I should be. It was very hard for me to narrow down which type I was going to draw for the Illustration Friday theme this week. Turns out it was simple....the "Rainbow Cake" always ends up standing out - it's aloofness - it's elegance! I WILL make this cake, one (most perfect) day. But for now.....

Also, here is a cute little repeating fork pattern that you can play with (for personal use)...just click it to enlarge.
Happy drawing everybody. I can't wait to ooogle some dessert illustrations this week!

satellite
Illustration Friday, satellite.
Every so often, I like to go to the window, look up, and smile for a satellite picture.
- Stephen Wright
I have been wanting so badly for things to slow down enough to do little art projects for fun again. I decided to make it happen, last night, late.
I rounded up some materials: 1 sharpie, 2 colored pencils, white and back paper, sting, tape, and 1 exacto knife (with a broken tip). For me this weeks topic turned into a challenge to make something happy out of whatever I could find - without waking up Jacinda. I decided satellites reminded me of being a child, should be hanging, and I went with a mobile.

♥ ♥ ♥ Have a wonder filled day!

adrift
I had to stop myself from drifting off to sea for this weeks Illustration Friday theme. I do very much love the ocean, followed by the sky...but today I chose daydreams. I get lost in my head constantly. It is one of my biggest battles....
I bought some new fancy paper and am experimenting with mixed medias. This piece is done with acrylic paint, (black, sparkly gold, white and silver) ink, walnut ink, pencil, colored pencil, and water color pencils. I think I enjoy working on paper. I am sad my sparkles don't show up very well in the photo.
Have a beautiful day! ♥

Focused
I finished my painting last night in the wee hours of the morn. Jacinda was sleeping away with her pillow over her head to my left. Standing on a chair I snapped this photo...the wooden box actually took up my entire card table. This is my temporary makeshift workspace in my temporary bedroom at Jacinda's parents house (permanent parents). Nest. That is the theme of the Riverspeak Launch Party this Friday for the Visual Arts Tour (everything I do is last minute). Nest also seems to fit our temporary housing situation.
The theme this week for Illustration Friday is 'Focused'. I really wanted my nest painting to fit in with the weekly theme as well. I think I accomplished that pretty successfully. I am calling this piece 'Mobil Home'. You can't really see it here, but I am starting to incorporate some strategically placed metallic paints. Jacinda made me a bunch of these amazing boxes from scrap wood (via house remodel) as a Christmas gift. They are wonderful to paint on, and each one is unique. Now that I have finally figured out how to properly hang these beasts on the wall (sitting on L's) I am sold. I have three more of them in Raw Space on Friday as well....if you happen to be out and about.
