Announcing

In the last couple weeks I've started two new and exciting projects...A print shop, and a 365 day illustrated journal.

The print shop is through Society6 and features many of my new illustrations. It can be found here.

The journal is called Daily Doodle Sketch. Each night I create a montage style illustration comprised of memories from my day. I've been going strong for over two weeks now. It's been a nice experiment. Here are some of my favorite bits (details) so far:

Identical (IF)

For the last month now I've been working like crazy on drawings (17 of them), to exhibit along side paintings at my art opening this Friday. I've not shown original illustrations before and am pretty thrilled about it. Working with mixed media has been a nice change - and a challenge. I decided to theme one after this weeks Illustration Friday topic: Identical. Hope you love it! ♥
Here's a little sneak peek (detail) of another. I will make sure to post more soon. Stop by aNeMonE this month and check out the show!

Seven Seconds to Thunder

I'm getting most excited for the opening of my first out of town art exhibit and installation - March 16th at the brand new Moses Lake Museum and Art Center.

We'll be heading over this coming Monday and Tuesday to install the show. I've been such a frantic little bunny getting everything ready - I've not really posted a thing about it here.

So these are some sneak peeks from the last few months, and a couple behind the scenes photos of the shoot I set up for the poster.

Friday, March 16, 5 - 8pm

Seven Seconds to Thunder: An exhibit and installation by Spokane artist Tiffany Patterson. This show celebrates tiny moments; times of stillness amidst fury. Each work offers a glimpse ...into a land of whimsy where large eyed creatures, in a collective instance, are frozen momentarily awaiting thunder. The pieces in bright pastels and crisp black lines are made on wood with acrylic paint and ink. The installation unfurls Tiffany's world complete with pink rocks and rain drops where no matter your age, you shall find delight.

The MAC is located in the Moses Lake Civic Center.
New Hours: Monday - Saturday, 11am - 5pm.
Admission is always Free.

FFFFOUND!

Since getting my FFFFOUND account I've gotten a little obsessive with the photo collecting. I constently post (from all my favorite blogs and sites) whenever inspiration strikes. It has become an amazing tool for bookmarking my favorite images from all over - not to mention finding new ones.

Here are some of my recent favorites:

It's delightful discovering new artists and blogs too! I love the suggestions under the "New for you" button....they are pretty much spot on (...except for a week they thought I was a gay man. The pictures were amazing - just, ahem, a lot of men)!

Stir

Here's my drawing for Illustration Friday's theme Stir. When I got this week's email all I could think about was making caramel...so much stirring, but so tasty.
I also have an ongoing giveaway for my 100th Ugly Yellow post [here]. Enter before the 18th to win one of three prizes!

Have fun drawing, and maybe treat yourself to some caramels!

100th post giveaway!

Having 100 posts on a blog may not seem like a huge accomplishment, except sometimes I have a hard time sticking with the things I start. So, to celebrate this small feat it seemed like a perfect excuse to have another super fun giveaway! A little thank you to those who support my work and read my blog!

Your entry into the contest will be a photo posted on my Facebook Art Page [here]...this is an anything goes derivative work photo contest (it sounds scary - but it is far from). At the bottom of this post you will find some links of things to play with. You have full artistic freedom - the only rule is that there must be something of mine used in some way. Your art using my art...You could post a photo of a fantastically bright coloring book page hanging on your fridge, photoshop a speech bubble on (well) anything, or you could post a photo of your dog surrounded by a swarm of bumble bees - it's up to you. The possibilities really are endless.

Post the photo before Friday March 18th 8:00pm (PST) for your chance to win one of the 3 prizes. One photo per person (so make it count)! This contest is open to anyone anywhere - so tell your friends!

Here's what you could win:
3 prizes and 3 different ways to win.
1. The winner of the custom Pet/Animal painting will be chosen by a random # generator.
2. The Coloring Book -
goes to my personal favorite of the giveaway images. I will dub it "The MOST [blank]." This blank could stand for 'surprising', 'horrifying', 'happy'...we will have to wait and see!
3. The watercolor illustration - goes to whichever photo has the most "likes" (thumbs up) when the giveaway closes.

[Here] is a download link for some items to play with.

Also, I know a bunch of you have D.I.Y. tattoo ladies and things I may have given you....so feel free to use other things of mine as well (as long as it isn't too much of a stretch).

Yay! Good luck - have fun! ♥

- I am reserving the right to disqualify/delete any overly offensive or evil spirited images.

Layer

This weeks Illustration Friday theme is Layer. When I opened by blog reader today I found this post from Julia Humpfer. What a great find!...and perfect for showing layers. I decided to give odosketch a go, and just not worry about the mistakes - it was pretty fun!

(Sorry I couldn't get it centered below...)

Happy Drawing! ♥

Phenomenon (IF)

I thought I would share a photo of my sketchbook as well. (Heh - it really is always that messy) I love illustrating typography and have a pretty comfortable "Tiffany Standard", but I decided it is time for me to mix it up a little and push myself a bit. Yay for Illustration Friday.

Happy drawing everyone!

Frank loved nothing more than to pass on his rash

I have been enjoying all the online flash artists I've been stumbling upon lately. I've found some quite addicting ones. Artist Rafael Rozendaal (boasting over 1 million visits to his site in just one month) is one of the strangest. You MUST (if you haven't already) visit JELLO time.
My newest find/♥ is a flash art toy called Scribbler. It is amazing! There is a slight learning curve...so don't give up too soon. I wrote the website's creator asking him to add my image to the gallery and also his Poem (note: this poem is inappropriate for children). He actually emailed me back with a compliment and said "you are probably one of the best at the scribbler i have seen...." - that sooooo made my day! So, here is Frank and his rash:
I am currently working on a scribbler alphabet.
♥ xoxo - Have a nice day.

It's the real love, I see so in your eyes.

I have pledged my eternal love and dedication to the Ugly Yellows (at least until we repaint).

My partner puts up with a lot. This is our future craft room (first coat of paint). Imagine beautiful dark bamboo floors, clean white molding and thin white cotton curtains with the sun shinning in. I have been cheating on my blog with our new house. It was purchased and then gutted, so I have been a little busy.

We have slowed down and are only visiting the hardware store about 3-4 times a week now. I have developed a slight crush on paint samples. I can't leave without a handful (I have a favorite paint guy too...Tom). Their names make me smile and I dream of having the job of naming paints, finding inspiration in anything and everything. Our living room is Playful Pool, with Sea Tickle for the ceiling (white crown molding to come). The gray in our bathroom is City Storm, and that oh so lovely orangey mustard of the craft room is Golden Avocado. Since I mixed the color for the top wall and ceiling myself (there was no perfect hue) I get to name it....so I am calling it Green Mamba Stellified.

A co-worker introduced me to the music of Ian Brown; of which I am now hopelessly obsessed with his song Stellify (it might also be my new favorite descriptive word). The tune has been looping in my head over and over ever since. Jacinda even caught me full out dancing to it and yelled at me like I was 5 years old..."Tiffany! Stop dancing and go get the extension cord!" I feel like I am 5 a lot. Doo doo doo "I stellify. I'm miles high...Shinning like a diamond in the darkness of the sky. "

Fellow Yellow Lover

Today I have decided that the Ugly Yellow will do a "feature" Fellow Yellow Lover. This may be the first of many...or the first and last. I have a hard time following through with commitments (so that is the way it will have to be).

Artist Ashley Goldberg of Portland, OR. (illustrations from her Etsy Shop)

I found Ashley though Etsy. She is a very successful seller there and probably most Etsians have seen her work. She creates amazingly simple yet intimate portraits. I am in love with her world of color. (I believe that an artists pallet is their world of color, and even if you cheat and consciously try to escape your world, it being stored inside your brain, sticks with you...this is not to say that it cannot evolve and or be expanded). I feel a connection to her work. My partner and I have been looking for an artist to create a portrait of us. Until today, we have not been able to agree on who it will be. Check out Ashley's custom portraits on her flicker site. They are to die for....maybe one day I will have my very own rosy cheeks peeking out from this page via the mind of this extremely talented artist...a fellow yellow lover.

Check out Ashly's shop, blog, and website...and don't forget those custom portraits!

Chick Magnet Boston Terrier Pancho Rivas

This is Pancho....Tonight should be fun!

Thank you to Genevieve of The Tragically Unhip for letting me use her photo for my flyer making pleasures! That little heart breaker...he might be the cutest dog I have ever seen. Lately I've been experimenting with photos and text instead of the purely illustration onlys. It seems I am developing a different style and liking it! But then again, I made this one the other day for the Empyrean and gosh darn it I drew the entire thing. I guess I am torn.
